Foitite specimens from Namibia are primarily sourced from the Erongo Mountains, a renowned mineral-rich region in the Erongo Region near Usakos and Omaruru.

Foitite is a member of the tourmaline group, chemically defined by its iron-rich, lithium-poor structure.
