Often referred to as Mariposa Calcite (“butterfly” in Spanish). Exhibits scalenohedral crystals with iron oxide coatings, giving a layered look reminiscent of butterfly wings. Colors range from red, gold, maroon, and brown, often due to hematite inclusions
